Tata Nexon.ev facelift unveiled; bookings open on September 9

The Nexon.ev facelift features a Gen-2 electric motor and improved range over the outgoing model.

Tata Motors has taken the wraps off the Nexon.ev facelift. The all-electric version gets a host of design updates both inside and out. It will be launched alongside the ICE version on September 14, while bookings are slated to open on September 9.

Like the standard Nexon, the Nexon.ev also borrows design cues from the Curvv concept. It gets a heavily redesigned front fascia with a new LED light signature. Unlike the ICE version, the EV gets an LED light bar at the front, a body-coloured front fascia with a different air dam mesh design and new dual-tone alloy wheels.

The rear end of the Nexon.ev looks similar to the ICE version. It has V-shaped taillights connected by an LED light bar, a new bumper with integrated reflectors and a roof spoiler. Tata claims the new design is more aerodynamic while the LED lighting is more energy efficient, which translates to a slightly higher range.

The interior of the Nexon.ev is identical to the regular Nexon. It shares the same dashboard with a new centre console with haptic touch switches, a 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and a digital instrument cluster. The EV, however, gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, instead of a 10.25-inch head-unit and a 9-speaker sound system.

Other features offered on the Nexon.ev facelift includes a 360-degree camera, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, an air-purifier, a single-pane sunroof, voice commands and a new Arcade.ev app suite.

The Nexon.ev will be available in two versions: Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR). The former uses a 30 kWh battery offering 325 km of range, while the LR version gets a 40.5 kWh battery that can cover 465 km on a single charge.

Both versions are now powered by a Gen-2 permanent magnet synchronous motor that is said to be 20 kg lighter and uses 30% less rare earth materials in its construction. Tata has also updated the battery management, brake regeneration and cooling systems.

The Nexon.ev MR generates 127 BHP and 215 Nm, while the LR version packs 143 BHP and 215 Nm. The car gets three drive modes: Eco, City and Sport. Tata claims a 0-100 km/h time of 8.9 seconds for the LR version and a top speed of 150 km/h.
