New car launches in India in October 2023

Here is a look at all the important car launches expected to take place in October 2023.

Tata Punch EV

Tata Motors is gearing up to take on the Citroen eC3 with an all-electric version of the Punch. According to a media report, the Punch EV could be launched by late October.

The Punch EV will be positioned between the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV. The electric crossover will reportedly be offered as an alternative to the Tigor EV. It will use Tata’s Ziptron powertrain. It could get multiple battery options offering a range of around 200-300 km on a single charge.

Harrier, Safari facelifts’ production is likely to begin in September 2023. Price announcements are mostly before Diwali this year. A new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol could join the powertrain line-up.

Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition & AMT variants

Nissan is the official partner of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The carmaker has introduced the Magnite Kuro special edition to commemorate this partnership. Bookings are now open, and customers can place their orders by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. Prices will be announced in October 2023.

Nissan is likely to introduce an automated manual transmission (AMT) in the Magnite. It is said that AMT variants of the Magnite could be launched in October. The new 5-speed AMT will bridge the gap between the manual and CVT variants. Reports suggest that the new gearbox will be paired with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor

Toyota has filed a trademark for the ‘Urban Cruiser Taisor’ nametag. It could be used for Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The rebadged version of the Fronx is likely to be launched this festive season.

It could receive a few cosmetic changes, including a revised front grille and bumper. The interior of the Urban Cruiser Taisor could be largely identical to the Fronx.

Lexus LM MPV

Lexus India started accepting pre-bookings for the LM luxury MPV in August this year. The carmaker now claims to have received over 100 bookings. In India, Lexus offers the LM 350h, which is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol hybrid that puts out 247 BHP and 239 Nm.

BYD Seal EV

China-based BYD showcased the Seal electric sedan at this year’s Auto Expo 2023. The carmaker confirmed that the EV will be launched in the Indian market by the fourth quarter of this year.

The BYD Seal is a four-door EV featuring a coupe-like roofline and an overall futuristic design inspired by the 2021 Ocean X concept. The BYD Seal comes with two battery options โ€“ a 61.4 kWh unit offering 550 km of range and an 82.5 kWh pack with a claimed range of 700 km (CLTC-cycle).

Citroen C3 Aircross

Citroen has opened its order books for the C3 Aircross. The SUV is available at an introductory starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and customers can book the car by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000.

Powering the C3 Aircross is a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 108 BHP and 190 Nm. Initially, the SUV will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Deliveries of the C3 Aircross will commence on October 15, 2023.
