Mahindra EVs to get Dolby’s 3D in-car audio technology
Dolby made in-roads into the automotive space by partnering with Lucid in 2021.
According to a media report, Dolby, which pioneered noise reduction technology is looking to expand its presence in the Indian automotive sector. Mahindra’s upcoming EV range could be the first in India to get Dolby’s 3D in-car audio technology.
It is said that future Mahindra EVs will be equipped with Harman’s 360-degree surround system. Higher variants could get additional speakers positioned on the roof and within the cabin’s lower areas. Harman will also design navigation prompts, reverse camera alerts and directional audio cues for autonomous driving assistance; among others.
Andreas Ehret, Director, Automotive Dolby, said, “The better the hardware, the better it gets, but it will work well even on mid-level car systems. The music, however, needs to be re-imagined for Dolby Atmos, we are not upscaling [mixing] from stereo.”
