‘I was amazed to see a passive aggressive note had been left on my car’

A social media user has shared their frustration after they received a note after leaving their car unattended for a quarter of an hour.

The Reddit user @helphelpimlost took to the r/Portland group to talk about a note that was left on their windscreen after parking their car in front of a neighbour’s house.

In the post, @helphelpimlost uploaded an image of the note, written by the frustrated neighbour.

It read: “Can you please park your car in front of your own house?

“We need room for our vehicles and the trash bins – there are extra spaces at the corners of the block if you have run out of room in front of your property.”

Much like here in the UK, Portland’s motorists are not allowed to park within five metres of a driveway to prevent homeowners from being blocked in their homes.

However, residents have no right to ban people from parking in front of their home if the driveway is clear.

Nevertheless, if another driving is frustrating a resident, they are advised to approach the motorist calmly and politely encourage them to move.

One person wrote: “My neighbour has her car parked in front of her house (next to mine). The across the street neighbour had the audacity to call my neighbours’ landlord to complain that because of her car, his big truck had a rough time backing into his driveway across the street.”

Another added: “You get the same attitude in Seattle. On one occasion I got my truck that needed battery work towed to my house and they put it down in my neighbour’s ‘spot’. Got the note promptly, of course.”
