Drivers told to never use beer to clean their car as social media tip rubbished
Drivers have been urged to never use beer and baking soda to clean their car despite claims from social media influencers.
Videos have shown supposed specialists using beer to get rid of oil stains despite the potential risks.
According to experts at Quotezone, this is false with the combination likely to cause further issues.
The comparison site suggested soda was an “abrasive” solution meaning motorists could actually lead to more damage.
The group said: “Social media users claim the combination of beer and soda is a great solution for getting rid of oil stains.

“However, beer is not an effective cleaner, and the abrasive nature of baking soda poses a risk of causing additional damage to the vehicle.
“The combination could also leave behind a sticky residue, adding to the cleaning troubles rather than alleviating them.”
YouTube channel ‘Jobscartips’ showed an owner pouring beer over his front grille and headlights.
However, this was preceded by a big red cross suggesting road users should not be following the method.
