But what about tackling foggy windows? A Reddit user posted in the Life Pro Tips subreddit their hack for preventing car windows from fogging up. It’s a common occurrence in the winter but causes annoyance for drivers who are constantly battling the creeping mist.

Reddit user ElDougy wrote: “Growing up with harsh winters, inside frost is what I consider the worst, doing this prevents the inside of your windows from fogging up and avoids that annoying inside frost.

“The litter will absorb the moisture created from the melting snow inside your car, preventing the humidity from sticking to your windows and freezing overnight.

“Simply fill a cotton sock with litter, tape it shut, and leave it in your car, place it on the dashboard for best results.”

Cat litter, particularly the clay-based variety, is designed to absorb moisture. Placing a stocking filled with cat litter in your car can help absorb excess humidity in the air.

Excess moisture inside your car can lead to condensation on the windows.

By reducing humidity, you can help prevent fogging or ice buildup on the windows during colder months.

How to make a cat litter dehumidifier

1. Get a clean, breathable stocking or sock. Make sure it doesn’t have any holes that would allow cat litter to spill out.
2. Fill the stocking with cat litter. You don’t need to overfill it; just use enough to achieve the desired moisture absorption.
