Tesla upcoming entry-level EV to be built in Germany

Tesla will also adopt a new production process, which will help reduce construction cost per vehicle by around $1000.

According to media reports, Elon Musk, during a recent visit to Tesla’s facility in Germany, confirmed that the brand’s much-awaited small entry-level electric car will be manufactured at the Berlin Gigafactory. The new entry-level affordable EV from Tesla will reportedly be priced under 25,000 euros. Musk though, stopped short of mentioning a timeline for the new EV’s market arrival.

The upcoming entry-level Tesla EV, unofficially called ‘Model 2’ would be the second model to be built in Europe, following the Model Y. Earlier this year, Elon Musk had hinted to the firm’s shareholders that Tesla was developing “two new products”, while one of them is now confirmed to be the updated Model 3, the second model could be the entry-level EV.

Elon Musk also announced that the combined production volume of the updated Model 3 and the upcoming entry-level EV could be “in excess of five million units a year”.

For the upcoming models, Tesla will also adopt a new production process, which will help reduce construction cost per vehicle by around $1000.
