Retro-styled Yamaha XSR900GP unveiled at Japan Mobility Show

The XSR900GP is inspired by 1980s grand prix bikes like the YZR500.

Yamaha has revealed a new sports heritage model based on the XSR900. The new XSR900GP was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 and will be launched in the European market.

The XSR900GP borrows design cues from grand prix bikes from the 1980s, especially the YZR500. It is finished off with a retro paint job featuring a dual-tone colour scheme of red and yellow.

The XSR900GP is powered by an 890cc, 3-cylinder DOHC engine that produces 116 BHP @ 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm @ 7,000 rpm.ย

Yamaha claims to have tweaked the chassis to make it more rigid. The front and rear suspension have also been tuned for improved controllability, while the riding position has been adjusted with the help of separate handlebars. The bike rides on Bridgestone Batrax S23 tyres.

The XSR900GP might look like a bike from the 80s, but it is equipped with the latest riding assists, including Yamaha Ride Control and cruise control. It also gets a 5-inch colour TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity and a Type-C USB socket.
