Foxconn could set up EV manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu
Foxconn is the largest contract manufacturer of Apple devices in the world and is currently the top iPhone producer in India.
Last month, Taiwan-based electronics giant Foxconn had revealed that it was working on a small electric car for emerging markets. The company also hinted that it was likely to be manufactured in India.
According to a recent media report, Foxconn is exploring opportunities to manufacture EVs in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Chairman and CEO Young Liu recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat at Semicon India 2023. Liu said, “Foxconn continues to expand its presence in India in response to customer needs.” He went on to add that India would become a new manufacturing centre of the world.
Foxconn has been operating in India since 2005. It is the largest contract manufacturer of Apple devices in the world and is currently the top iPhone producer in India.
