DSG fails on VW Ameo: Got shocking Rs. 5.8 lakh quote for replacemement

Sharing below events for the absolute shock we received in the last two weeks for our Volkswagen Ameo Highline DSG 1.5 Diesel with a bomb of Rs. 5.8 Lakhs.
Somewhere around 28th-29th September, the car started making a wheezing sound while shifting gears. Particularly from 2nd to 3rd for both up/downshifts. Apart from that, the car was smooth as butter for other gears and mechanically strong. In short, we didn’t face any other issue apart from the wheezing sound. Considering the fact that we handle our care with love, we decided to get it checked at the local dealership i.e. Volkswagen Dehradun.
On 3rd October, the car was sent for a check-up, and towards the end of the day (3rd October), it was mentioned by the service advisor Rajvansh Mohan ji that they needed more time to assess the problem. We didn’t hear back for the next two days and upon enquiring on 6th October, the service advisor mentioned that the gearbox had failed and it needs to be replaced and the total cost would be around Rs. 5.5 Lakhs.
We tried to gather more details such as what part has failed, the breakup of the cost, etc. Unfortunately, a single statement was provided that the gearbox would be replaced and the cost would be around Rs. 5.5 Lakhs. Upon several requests, we got the attached quote from the dealership with a single line item gearbox – Rs. 4.46 Lakhs and total repair amounting to Rs. 5.8 Lakhs which is equivalent to the current IDV value of the car i.e. Rs. 5.9 Lakhs.
We are in utter shock given that the car was mechanically strong when we sent it to the service center and how our case is being handled by the dealership by not being transparent about different parts within the gearbox. The biggest one is that there is only one solution i.e. replacement of the whole gearbox.
While the event has come as absolute horror, we are in constant push from the dealership asking to pay for the repair creating a mental and financial setback for the whole family that owns 4 other Volkswagen cars.
Unfortunately, despite talking to the dealership and some senior folks in VW no one has come back to us apart from an email saying we will look into the matter.

It’s a 2017 car. In 2018, VW started offering 7-year warranties. Driving any European car without the max possible extended warranty is just asking for trouble. Even more so when it’s a DSG which is destined to fail.
The car owner should get it fixed from a good independent garage.

I popped my FNG, Carmed to drop my Polo for a service. It was looking quite full and busy. The proprietor told me that quite a few of the cars were DSG failures where the internal mechanicals self grenades.
The child parts within a DSG box do not have part numbers, it is a case of bucks for the box. Carmed are trying to source the child parts from China.

As per my recent chat with my Skoda SA, warranty claims till the 7th year are apparently considered.
Here VW cannot issue a blanket statement that entire GB has to be replaced. Clear sign of trying to dupe the customer.
Get the fault codes checked first from an independent and experienced FNG or ask VW to share the same.
Now the fault codes also can mean multiple things however it will surely shed light on the specific affected areas.
Regd the DSG, it is supposed to be sealed for life but all that is a load of bs.
There are 2 oils, one is the GB oil and the other is the Mechatronics oil, both of which can be replaced.
Itโs a very simple process to get these two replaced. Around 2 hours and approximately 5k bucks from VW/Skoda.
In my opinion, post checking the fault codes, you should try this.
BTW, did the car throw any error on the mid which was related to the Gearbox??
