DIY oil and filter change on my Maruti Swift at 1.02 lakh km

With the last Oil and Filter change done at the 93000km mark in June, it was time for the the same again with the odo around the 102000km mark.

Simple Oil Change

With the last Oil and Filter change done at the 93000km mark in June, it was time for the same again with the ODO around the 102000km mark. Took this work up over the weekend and was quickly over with. The oil filter was removed and oil was left to be drained overnight. Fresh oil was poured in the next day morning. I decided to change the fuel filter as well since it was last changed around the 85000km mark.

Got the Oil filter and Fuel Filter ( Purolator) from Boodmo. Sourced the Engine Oil (Mobil 1 5W40) from Amazon.

Leaky PCV Grommet

Whilst removing the PCV Valve, it opened into two pieces. Luckily I didn’t loose any parts, carefully cleaned and assembled it all back replaced the grommet, and reinstalled the PCV Valve.

Battery Replacement

The battery showed signs of aging whilst cranking like long cranks. It died on me on the weekend and I had luckily a pair of Jumper cables which me and Dad made a long time back. Battery voltage showed 10.65V. Left it overnight to charge using a battery charger and was just 10.68V the next day morning. After multiple calls with DBHPian Vigsom and Sagarpadaki, a test for the parasitic draw was done which was found to be nill.

Called around a few shops to find out the rates for the 35AH Amaron battery. My battery had done 5 Years of its duty. The best rate found amongst all the calls was โ‚น3400 with the return of the old battery. Changed it and was provided with a 30+30 month warranty.

Battery replaced

The car cranking felt much better and also noticed lesser vibration at startup.
