2024 BMW R 1300 GS unveiled globally
The BMW R 1300 GS competes with the Honda Africa Twin, Triumph Tiger 1200 and the Ducati Multistrada V4.
BMW Motorrad has taken the wraps off the all-new R 1300 GS adventure tourer. The ADV will soon go on sale in the global markets, before making its way to Indian shores.
The BMW R 1300 GS is based on a new steel sheet-metal frame that is said to be more compact and stiffer than the previous model and a bolt-on subframe made from die-cast aluminium.
BMW has also made some design changes to its flagship ADV. The biggest update is in the lighting department. The bike now features a new Matrix LED headlamp with X-shaped LED daytime running lights. It comes with an adjustable windscreen, knuckle guards with integrated LED turn indicators and a digital instrument console.
The R 1300 GS rides on a new EVO Telelever front suspension and a para-lever setup at the rear. BMW offers features like Dynamic Suspension Adjustment that can adjust the damping and preload depending on the road conditions and riding style. The bike also gets an adaptive seat height function that adjusts the saddle height automatically when riding slowly or when stopped.
Powering the R 1300 GS is a 1,300cc twin-cylinder boxer engine that produces 143.5 BHP @ 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The engine features BMW’s ShiftCam tech and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. There are four riding modes: Rain, Road, Eco, and Enduro and three optional modes: Dynamic, Dynamic Pro and Enduro Pro. The bike maker claims that the new powertrain is more compact and lighter than before. As a result, the motorcycle weighs 12 kg less than the outgoing model.
