‘I’m a mechanic – I’ll only buy cars from this one brand, they are so reliable’
The famous motor mechanic Scotty Kilmer has stated the reason why he is such a strong supporter of cars manufactured by Toyota.
The popular YouTuber has been a mechanic for over 55 years and regularly posts videos explaining tips on how to avoid damage and the best cars to buy, both new and used.
However, in a recent video, Scotty explained why he likes Toyota’s range of cars, stating that their reliability means drivers can save money in the long run.
He said: “As a mechanic I’ve worked on tons of different cars over the last five decades, and I can personally attest to Toyota’s quality myself. The reliability of a Toyota is largely to do with it’s low number of mechanical issues.
“But here’s something that not many people know. Buying a Toyota will actually save you a lot of money, compared to other brands.”
In the video, Scotty noted that Toyotas sold in the USA typically travel between 200,000 and 250,000 miles, with some examples covering over half a million miles.
With regular maintenance, he added that one motorist has driven over 1.5million miles in his 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, which is used to deliver medicine in North Carolina and Virginia.
Scotty also noted that many vehicles produced by Toyota can easily use the same engine and transmission for up to one million miles.

In addition, Scotty added that Toyotas typically cost less to service and repair, with less on the models to go wrong.
He explained: “So, here’s the question: how much will these repairs cost you and how does that compare to other cars in the industry?
“Well, one study found that Toyotas typically average about $441 in maintenance and repair costs each year. Put it in perspective, the industry averages $652 bucks. That’s more than a $200 difference.”

With over 110,000 views and 5,300 likes, many viewers agreed with Scotty and talked about their experiences behind the wheel of a Toyota.
One driver commented: “Hi Scotty. Been watching you for years. Love your videos. I currently have a 2010 Corolla S with a manual transmission. I love it. I run Amsoil and change all filters every 5,000 miles. I love this car. It has 165,000 miles and runs great.”
Another viewer wrote: “Last seven vehicles I bought have been Toyotas. All of them pretty good with very few repairs. I’m sure Toyota has made some vehicles that aren’t too great but lucky for me I haven’t bought one.”
