‘I’m a car expert – this 15-second hidden feature improves visibility in winter’
An automotive expert has taken to TikTok to share a hidden feature that can be found on many modern cars to improve visibility and safety.
DoneDealMotors is a used vehicle website based in Ireland and has a TikTok channel which shares driving tips and looks at some of the most popular models.
In a recent video, a member of the company shared how drivers can quickly heat up their door mirrors, removing any mist or raindrops from the surface.
He explained: “Alright, here’s a cool little tip that not everyone might know. So, when your wing mirrors are all fogged up, you don’t actually need to go like this [wipe them].
“If you just turn this knob to there, and then go over here and click ‘rear’, it actually demists.”

In the video, the presenter advised motorists not to wipe the door mirrors clean when they are misty and instead press two buttons.
First, he noted that the electronic door mirror control, typically found on the driver’s door, should be set to the icon featuring a mirror and three rays of heat.
Then, near to the heater controls, the presenter pressed the button that turns on the heated rear windscreen, which will also increase the temperature of the mirrors.

With over 2,200 likes, many viewers were impressed with the hidden feature, and left their own tips in the comments section.
One viewer wrote: “Don’t put your window down when it’s wet. All that moisture gets trapped in the door.”
Another advised: “I just push demist back window and it does the mirrors as well, without the extra button.”
