Hyundai Kona Jayde Concept arrives to brighten up SEMA
The Jayde Concept is an in-house creation from Hyundai with exterior and interior upgrades
The new Hyundai Kona is our Car of the Year and to give it even more street appeal, Hyundai has created the Jayde Concept – a lowered Kona decked out in a vibrant colourway with a redesigned interior.
On show at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week, the Hyundai Kona Jayde Concept is covered in a ‘Robin’s egg blue’ wrap (so not jade green as you’d presume), gets a front lip spoiler, metallic side skirts and a rear spoiler. The wheel arches and window trim are finished in black. The Jayde Concept also gets a set of lowering springs that reduce the ride height by 50mm and it sits on custom 20-inch wheels with wide Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres.

Not to be outdone by Honda’s recent Sustaina-C concept unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show week, the Jayde Concept also features a colour-coordinated all-electric bike designed as a “last-mile solution”. Adding to the bold exterior look is a roof box finished in gloss black.
Hyundai hasn’t said what powertrain the Jayde Concept uses, but the bodywork is the same as the Kona Hybrid’s rather than the all-electric version. Most likely housed under the bonnet is a 1.6-litre engine with 139bhp and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The exterior isn’t the only eye-catching part of the Jayde Concept. The interior features some Recaro bucket seats with a unique plaid pattern on the centre sections which Hyundai says is designed to match the exterior colour scheme. There’s also a suite of Hyundai accessories with a cargo tray, plush floor matts, doorstep plates and a portable charger.
There’s no word from Hyundai on whether the Jayde Concept could preview a road-going trim level but we highly doubt it.
