From ‘cartoonish’ coupes to economical EVs – expert shares best cars of 2024
The online vehicle retail platform AutoTrader has revealed the most anticipated new cars which will go on sale during 2024.
Already, many car companies have announced that they are to launch a variety of interesting new models, some sensible and others incredibly exciting.
Mark Nichol from AutoTrader, noted that one of the most interesting new models set to launch in 2024 is the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, a £165,000 four-seater coupe.
He explained: “It’s been nine years since Mercedes unveiled the first AMG-GT, a two-door super-coupe with almost cartoonish proportions.
“The big news is that this new one isn’t going electric… yet. For now, it’s sticking with a twin-turbo V8 petrol engine underneath a comically long bonnet. It’s four-wheel drive as standard now, and buyers can add a couple of tiny rear seats too.”

For the more economically minded, Citroen has announced that it will launch a new version of the popular C3 supermini.
Like the current model, it will focus on featuring good value for money and have a soft ride thanks to the company’s ‘Progressive Hydraulic Cushion’ suspension system.
However, this will be the first generation of the C3 to be fully electric, with the sub-£25,000 hatch set to cover a 199-mile range.

For a new model that is set to drive as well as it looks, Mark noted that the new Toyota Land Cruiser is already destined for success.
He continued: “Toyota has improved on-road refinement, thankfully, giving it a far less wobbly chassis – it’s 30 percent stiffer – and electric power steering for the first time, designed to reduce kick-back when the ground beneath is kicking hard.
“In an effort to be all things to all people – and also to entice people out of their Land Rover Defenders – the cabin has taken a significant step towards luxurious. Hence, one of the trim levels is actually called ‘Luxurious’.”

However, for the driver who wants the closest blend of performance and practicality, 2024 will also see Hyundai introduce a new high-performance version of its all-electric Ioniq 5 family hatchback.
Called the Ioniq 5 N, this Golf-rival features a unique pastel blue bodywork, with red pinstripes and black cladding around the front grille, along with a 650bhp powertrain.
Whilst its £65,000 price tag is far from affordable for many, it will be capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds yet still featuring room for five.
