Don’t get angry! New Nissan Hyper Tourer concept can monitor your moods

The new Nissan Hyper Tourer electric MPV concept will be on display at the Tokyo Motor Show

Nissan is in the middle of unveiling a spate of wild concepts ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show on October 25 and the latest offering is an all-electric MPV called the Hyper Tourer.

Like the Hyper Urban and Hyper Adventure concepts that have been revealed over the past few weeks, the Hyper Tourer features plenty of angular surfacing, futuristic technology and luxurious touches.

Nissan says the Hyper Tourer “re-envisions the road trip by combining the comfort of a luxurious living room with the convenience of a passenger van”. The interior follows a similar pattern to the other concept models mentioned with a focus on maximising cabin space.

The dash is heavily digitised with a wide display and no physical switches or buttons. The Hyper Tourer’s fully autonomous driving function means the two front occupants can swivel their seats to interact with rear passengers. Nissan says the car has an AI system that can monitor brain waves, heart rates, breathing and even perspiration – adjusting music and lighting to suit your mood.

Technical details on the Hyper Tourer’s powertrain haven’t been released but it’s all-electric with an all-wheel drive system which produces “smooth and flat acceleration and deceleration” according to Nissan. Like the Hyper Urban and Hyper Adventure, the Hyper Tourer features ‘V2X’ which stands for ‘Vehicle-to-Everything’ meaning it can provide power to buildings and appliances.
