More opulent Range Rovers will surely follow from the factory – one Manhart customer couldn't wait

When so many Range Rovers seem to reach customers looking the same – grey with black, or green with cream for those that like to think they’re interesting – it’s refreshing to see a spec that really is something a bit different. Even if it’s not necessarily to all tastes…

This is the Manhart RV 650 Edition 01/01, a bespoke build from the German tuning company based on a P530 for ‘an individualistic customer from Eastern Europe’. Naturally, it’s got more power – now 653hp from the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, with 664lb ft – and it’s kitted out in black and gold outside, but the real changes are to be found inside the Range Rover.

‘Even unusual design requests are no problem at all’, says Manhart. ‘The latest creation presented here is undoubtedly one such project’. You don’t say. The interior has been retrimmed in Bordeaux Red with – there’s no other way to say this – even more gold. So there will be no mistaking this for any other Range around. It’s everywhere, too: seat, dash, wheel, ventilation controls, gearshift paddles. Spectacular, that’s for sure, and quite the demonstration of what Manhart is capable of. The customer is always right, after all.

Additional upgrades for the 650 Edition include new Manhart 24-inch wheels in a colour scheme you can guess plus a new sports exhaust with four 100mm tailpipes. It’s so rude, in fact, that it doesn’t get TÜV approval, so can only be exported anyway. The Manhart Range Rover is going to make an impact wherever it goes, basically – even when it’s not moving.

Though this exact specification will remain unique to the Edition 01/01, there are individual Manhart parts available for those who feel their L460 needs a bit of optimisation. The air suspension can be dropped by 30mm for another few hundred euros, and the forged wheels seen here are on offer for €11k.

Somewhere in the middle sits the MHTronik Powerbox at €5,775, for those that fancy a more subdued spec with more than 650hp. Just the thing to pep up this SV Constellation Blue one…
