The vehicle finance company Vantage Leasing has revealed the most affordable ways that motorists can keep their car safe this winter.<\/p>\n

As the Office for National Statistics (ONS) note that car crime has peaked to its highest ever level, with some brands seeing a 500 percent rise in thefts in two years, many motorists are concerned about keeping their set of wheels safe.<\/p>\n

However, Dan Cochrane from Vantage Leasing explained that drivers can protect their vehicle from thieves by simply remembering to do one thing before getting out.<\/p>\n

He advised: \u201cEnsure your vehicle is double-locked, enhancing its security features and making it more challenging for unauthorized access.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen parking on a road, turn your wheels towards the curb as an additional precaution against potential theft.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many vehicles feature a double locking system, which prevents the vehicle from being unlocked by using the interior handles.<\/p>\n

By activating this feature, thieves who breaking the windows in attempt to open the doors from the inside are unable to gain entry.<\/p>\n

Turning the wheels so they face towards the curb can also prevent the vehicle from being stolen as it is more difficult for the criminal to drive away.<\/p>\n

Motorists who are concerned that their car could be stolen when parked on a driveway at home were advised by Dan to invest in a security post, which typically costs around \u00a370.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cConsider installing a security post in your driveway as a physical barrier against theft, significantly reducing the risk of your vehicle being targeted.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstalling and using a driveway security post adds another inconvenience to potential thieves. The more obstacles in the way for thieves the less likely they will target your car.\u201d<\/p>\n
