The vehicle manufacturer Polestar has shared a number of tips that can help electric vehicle owners get the most out of their car throughout winter.<\/p>\n
As more motorists get behind the wheel of their first electric car, they may have noticed their vehicle\u2019s range drop during colder weather.<\/p>\n
Jonathan Goodman, head of Polestar UK, said that there are many ways in which drivers can maximise their electric car\u2019s range when the weather gets colder.<\/p>\n
He explained: \u201cWith temperatures having officially dropped, electric car drivers will be wondering how best to prepare for winter weather.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut there are easy and effective things you can do to maximise the range and performance of your EV and keep yourself comfortable at all times of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

First, Polestar UK advised that electric car owners should precondition their vehicle before setting off on their journey.<\/p>\n
This feature, offered on many modern electric vehicles, heats up the battery pack to its optimum temperature to improve the range.<\/p>\n
The company also noted that preconditioning can also help to heat up the windscreen, meaning less time needs to be spent scraping and demisting in the morning.<\/p>\n
Don’t miss… <\/strong> <\/p>\n Polestar UK also noted that motorists must drive efficiently when the weather is cold, which can prevent putting themselves and other road users at risk and improve range.<\/p>\n When the roads are wet or icy, drivers should accelerate and brake gently, travelling wherever possible at a steady speed.<\/p>\n Motorists are also advised to use the \u2018Eco-Mode\u2019 drive setting on their vehicle, which reduces some power to preserve the battery.<\/p>\n
