Motorists in Cornwall could soon receive a massive 50 percent reduction in car parking costs after new changes were hit with severe backlash.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cornwall Council decided to change its parking tariffs back in May with car parks split into three zones with varying prices.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, local councillors have since called out the changes, suggesting the move was \u201ckilling\u201d trade in the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Councillor Andrew Long has since explained he was “enraged”\u00a0about the issue with two businesses apparently shutting down since the update.<\/p>\n

In a move to calm down anger among locals, the Council is now looking to introduce cut-price tickets for locals as part of sweeping changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Under the scheme, the Council’s Season Parking Ticket will be dramatically cut by 50 percent. The ticket is available for motorists who live in Cornwall for at least six months of the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tickets are valid for use in one specified car park and are ideal for those who live in popular tourist hotspots.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Changes are also set to be made to \u2018multi-use\u2019 session trinkets with motorists able to use these across multiple bays. It gives locals extra flexibility when car parks are filled to the brim with visitors in the summer months.\u00a0<\/p>\n
