{"id":246548,"date":"2023-11-27T22:19:02","date_gmt":"2023-11-27T22:19:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/automotobuzz.com\/?p=246548"},"modified":"2023-11-27T22:19:02","modified_gmt":"2023-11-27T22:19:02","slug":"byd-rolled-out-its-6-millionth-plug-in-vehicle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/automotobuzz.com\/car-reviews\/byd-rolled-out-its-6-millionth-plug-in-vehicle\/","title":{"rendered":"BYD Rolled Out Its 6 Millionth Plug-In Vehicle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BYD, the world&#8217;s largest manufacturer of plug-in electric vehicles, celebrates the production of its 6 millionth New Energy Vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The jubilee vehicle happens to be the all-new Fangchengbao Bao 5 off-road SUV with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which rolled off of the production line at BYD&#8217;s Zhengzhou factory on November 24.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/static\/16x9-tr.png\"><\/p>\n<p>BYD&#8217;s 6 Millionth New Energy Vehicle (Fangchengbao Bao 5) Rolled Off<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.motor1.com\/images\/static\/16x9-tr.png\"><\/p>\n<p>Fangchengbao Bao 5<\/p>\n<p>No other manufacturer produced 6 million rechargeable vehicles yet. Meanwhile, BYD produced the latest million in just over three months. According to our data, this number includes more than 3 million all-electric vehicles and almost 3 million plug-in hybrid vehicles. For reference, Tesla produced and sold more than five million all-electric cars.<\/p>\n<p>BYD is now racing against Tesla in the all-electric car segment, as its sales increased to over 165,000 in October (out of over 300,000 total).<\/p>\n<p>The company is present in 58 countries and regions. Its exports have quickly taken off, exceeding 200,000 units (cumulatively).<\/p>\n<p>Here are previous BYD&#8217;s milestones:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>1995: BYD battery company founded (initially NiMH)<\/li>\n<li>2003: BYD Auto founded<\/li>\n<li>2008: Introduction of the first NEV<\/li>\n<li>2021 May: 1 million NEVs after 13 years<\/li>\n<li>2022 Nov: 3 million NEVs (18 months after the first million)<\/li>\n<li>2023 Aug: 5 million NEVs (9 months after the third million)<\/li>\n<li>2023 Nov 24: 6 million NEVs (just over three months after the fifth million)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently, the BYD Group is in the process of expanding with BYD&#8217;s Dynasty and Ocean series, complemented by Denza and two new brands: Fangchengbao and Yangwang (see the new Yangwang U8 here).<\/p>\n<h2><span><svg class=\"arrow-heading\"><use xlink:href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/design\/dist\/critical\/icons\/sprite-common-0-dc6b7de11d922cb73553899f27128303.svg#sqr-arrow\"\/><\/svg><\/span>Fangchengbao Bao 5<\/h2>\n<p>The Fangchengbao Bao 5 off-road SUV, called a super hybrid hardcore SUV by the manufacturer, is a new model under the new Fangchengbao brand.<\/p>\n<p>The first car was delivered to a customer in China on November 23. The Bao 5 is based on the BYD&#8217;s Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) Super Hybrid System platform and is equipped with a 31.8-kilowatt-hour battery for up to 78 miles (125 km) of all-electric range under the generous CLTC test cycle.
