Fiat has paid homage to Disney\u2019s 100th anniversary this year by creating five Mickey Mouse-themed Topolinos. They\u2019ll be exhibited on top of Fiat\u2019s famous Lingotto factory – which also celebrates its centenary in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n
To the uninitiated, Fiat\u2019s decision to turn the Citroen Ami-based Topolino into a Disney tribute might seem strange but is actually quite simply explained. \u2018Topolino\u2019 means \u2018baby or little mouse\u2019 in Italian and also refers to Disney\u2019s iconic character Mickey Mouse – this is how the original Fiat Topolino got its name.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
CEO of Fiat, Olivier Francois, spoke at the unveiling of the Mickey Mouse cars: \u201cFiat and Disney are rooted together as they both celebrate 100th anniversaries. The two Topolinos – the Disney icon and the very first Fiat 500 \u2013 have been inspiring art, street art and fashion for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each of the five tributes take on different themes and styles. The first features black and white graphics inspired by Disney\u2019s first short film \u201cSteamboat Willie\u201d, another features vibrant artwork from the famous Italian Disney designer Giorgio Cavazzano with references to Mickey Mouse\u2019s recognisable head and ears outline.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also one with an \u2018M\u2019 pattern with Mickey\u2019s head on the doors and another one with a colourful abstract design. An \u201curban twist\u201d comes in the form of a final Topolino finished in graffiti style graphics.<\/p>\n
