Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer has urged classic car fans looking to buy a historic vehicle should follow two pieces of advice this November.

According to the TV star, the classic car market is primed for activity after a recent drop in prices.

Data from Hagerty shows sell-through rates were “significantly down” this summer with expensive models having dropped in value.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Mr Brewer sent a simple message to those looking to dip their toes in the market this winter.

He said: “It’s a really good time to get one, they dropped in price recently and they will go back up as we move towards a fuel-free future, so it’s a good time.”

“Fill your library before you fill your garage. So gather as much information as possible you can about the area you are targeting or are interested in.

“That goes as far as joining the owners club of the car you are interested in.

“If you’re interested in buying a Ford Escort Cosworth, for the sake of half a tank of fuel just join the owners club first even though you don’t have a car.

“They will give you the information so you will be armed with information and you are more likely to find the car that you’re looking for advertised within the club.”

However, data from The Classic Valuer shows average prices for historic vehicles are up from previous years.

Fees are up 22.5 percent from a year ago and 29 percent than data collected back in 2018.

This has left average prices standing at £27,270, up from the rough £22,256 price tag back in 2022.

Secondly, Mr Brewer has urged owners to get stuck into their new models even if they have little engineering skills.

Mr Brewer added: “Don’t be scared. Cars are complicated machines but fundamentally they are quite simple if you bear it down.
