{"id":243020,"date":"2023-10-25T11:48:55","date_gmt":"2023-10-25T11:48:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/automotobuzz.com\/?p=243020"},"modified":"2023-10-25T11:48:55","modified_gmt":"2023-10-25T11:48:55","slug":"honda-prelude-revived-as-an-all-electric-coupe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/automotobuzz.com\/car-reviews\/honda-prelude-revived-as-an-all-electric-coupe\/","title":{"rendered":"Honda Prelude revived as an all-electric coupe"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Tokyo Motor Show plays host to Honda\u2019s Prelude Concept <\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.autoexpress.co.uk\/image\/private\/s--11lee9im--\/f_auto,t_author-mobile@1\/v1570031548\/autoexpress\/alastair_crooks_headshot.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.autoexpress.co.uk\/image\/private\/s--5xL8nzng--\/f_auto,t_primary-image-mobile@1\/v1698226770\/autoexpress\/2023\/10\/Honda%20Prelude%20concept_rowqac.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The return of the Honda Prelude sports car has come in the form of a new concept, revealed at this year\u2019s Tokyo Motor Show.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Honda President, Toshihiro Mibe, spoke of the Prelude Concept: \u201cThis model will become the Prelude for our future models, which will inherit the \u2018joy of driving\u2019 into the full-fledged electrified future, and embody Honda\u2019s unalterable sports mindset.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Very little has been revealed about the Prelude Concept at this stage. We know it uses a fully-electric powertrain, but no technical details have been confirmed. An all-electric two-door coupe, the Prelude Concept has no direct rivals in production right now although we\u2019ve seen plans for the Caterham Project V and Porsche\u2019s electric Cayman. We expect the Prelude would undercut these models in terms of pricing however.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.autoexpress.co.uk\/image\/private\/s--rNHWjG3d--\/f_auto,t_related-embed-mobile@1\/v1690375669\/Best-sports-cars---header_zhsu6j.jpg\">Top 10 best sports cars 2023<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Instead of the rounded, retro styling of the Honda e and the Honda Sports EV concept from 2017, Honda has given the Prelude Concept a modern look with some design elements shared with its new all-electric SUV, the e:Ny1.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The front end features a light bar that connects the headlight clusters, which themselves don\u2019t look too dissimilar to the e:Ny1\u2019s. There&#x27;s an air duct situated low on the front bumper, and vents behind the front wheels. Unlike the Honda e, the Prelude Concept uses physical wing mirrors, but it does get flush-fitting door handles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the rear there\u2019s another full-width light bar, plus a small spoiler. Overall, the Prelude Concept looks pretty much production-ready from the outside, although Honda hasn\u2019t revealed a release date for the car yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Honda tells us to &quot;keep our expectations high&quot; for the new Prelude.
