According to a media report, Mercedes-Benz registered 5,10,600 units of sales globally in the third quarter of 2023, which translates to an almost 4% decline compared to the previous year.

In Q3 2023, Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands registered a combined sales of 98,400 plug-in passenger cars – translating to a 19.3% share of the total volume. Of this, 61,600 units came from battery-electric vehicles (BEV), while plug-in hybrid cars (PHEV) accounted for the remaining 36,800 units.

The BEV sales volume translated to a massive 66% year-on-year rise, representing 12% of the brand’s total sales. On the other hand, PHEVs witnessed a 19% decline but still managed to control 7% of Mercedes-Benz’s total sales volume.

Excluding the Smart brand, Mercedes-Benz’s BEV sales alone stood at 57,700 units, still a 64% improvement over the previous year. Globally, Mercedes-Benz is said to have sold 1,74,000 units over the course of this year. The US is the fastest-growing market for the brand, whose BEV sales exceeded 10,000 units recently.
