Many drivers know the pain of trying to park a car only to scrape the vehicle on an object that is out of sight, leaving a nasty-looking scratch.<\/p>\n
However, whilst scratches and scuffs on a car’s bodywork can ruin it\u2019s appearance, a social media user has shared a clever trick that can improve or remove them with a simple household item.<\/p>\n
The TikTok user @dashishuoche, who regularly posts videos to help viewers drive and make the most of their car, explained that drivers can repair the area with a small amount of toothpaste.<\/p>\n
In the video, he said: \u201cDon\u2019t worry. Do you have toothpaste? Toothpaste usually contains abrasives. On primer scratches like yours, just put toothpaste on the scratches.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen wipe it back and forth with a rag. You can easily wipe off the scratches.\u201d<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n However, whilst the trick will work on light scratches that are in the clear coat, the top material, which is applied to protect the paintwork, deeper scratches require other methods.<\/p>\n Scratches that go deeper into the primer or paintwork often require the area to be sanded using fine paper to remove harsh edges.<\/p>\n In some cases, a professional will also need to respray the area, which should be done shortly after the scratch was formed to prevent rust.<\/p>\n Later in the video, @dashishuoche noted that a small amount of toothpaste can also be used to improve visibility from the door mirrors and windscreen wipers.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cToothpaste has hidden secrets. Apply toothpaste to the mirrors after cleaning.
