Road users are being urged to have their say over a range of driving law plans which could impact their future from parking changes to tax fees.<\/p>\n
September was a busy month for rules updates with new number plates launched and a shock announcement from Rishi Sunak which delayed the 2030 petrol and diesel car ban.<\/p>\n
The Government\u2019s private parking call for evidence consultation is set to close on Sunday, October 8. This has called for industry experts and the public to have their say on plans to make parking laws more consistent across the UK.<\/p>\n
According to GOV.UK, one of the Government’s main objectives is to reduce the number of unjust small claims against drivers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, the new rules will ensure there is \u201csufficient deterrent against the non-payment of legitimately issued parking charges\u201d. The consultation will gather views with any new changes likely to be enforced from 2024.<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n British drivers are still banned from using their UK driving licences on the roads in Spain with the Department for Transport still negotiating with Spanish chiefs. It means Britons now have to ditch their licence for a Spanish photocard and cannot use the roads until an application is approved.<\/p>\n However, UK Ambassador to Spain, Hugh Elliott said there had been hope negotiations on resolving the issue would have ended \u201cby the summer\u201d. But, he stressed there were only a couple of issues left with the Government working on solving the deadlock \u201cevery day\u201d meaning an announcement could be made this month.<\/p>\n He reiterated this was still a priority and revealed there was a lot of work going on behind the schemes.
