A leading mechanic has warned diesel owners should never use a common store-bought product.

Motoring expert Scotty Kilmer said motorists would “waste money” if they tried head gasket sealers despite claims the solution works.

Mr Kilmer confirmed diesel owners were “never” going to seal a damaged engine by using the solution because of how the tools work.

He made the admission on his YouTube channel as he urged owners to not “waste their time”.

He said: “Don’t waste your money on sealers. It’s a diesel engine. The compression in a diesel engine is so much more than a gasoline engine.

Diesel engines don’t have an ignition system. They don’t have a spark that fires to blow the gasoline.

“They go by diesel compression. There’s so much compression in the engine that when it squashes it, it ignites from the pressure and puts out the power.

“They are so much more pressure, no head gasket sealers going to fix it, don’t even waste your time.

“You’re just going to be p***ing in the wind attempting to seal a diesel engine with any kind of little sealer.
