Now in its third generation, the new Volkswagen Tiguan is sent to enter a new era for the popular crossover.<\/p>\n
Whilst the model follows familiar styling cues to the rest of the Volkswagen range, the upcoming Tiguan will be based on a new platform, making it a capable plug-in hybrid.<\/p>\n
Thomas Sh\u00e4fer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, explained why the car was launched in front of 10,000 employees of the company\u2019s Wolfsburg factories.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cShowcasing our new Tiguan to the VW team ahead of its world premiere was a top priority for us. It is our way of saying thank you to our employees for their hard work and passion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe compact SUV is a very important model for the company and the Wolfsburg location, an absolute bestseller across the whole world. A total of 7.6 million customers have purchased our compact SUV since its debut in 2007.\u201d<\/p>\n
READ MORE: <\/strong> BMW M3 is set to go all-electric with a platform capable of over 1,300bhp<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan looks similar to the popular Golf and Polo models, featuring a thin daytime running light strip on top of a fake grille, the new version of the compact SUV is more aerodynamic than before.<\/p>\n To emphasize the car\u2019s rugged feel, the front bumper features large air intakes on either side, whilst there are \u2018athletic shoulders\u2019 over the rear wheel arches.<\/p>\n Inside, the Volkswagen Tiguan includes seats that can be cooled or ventilated and allow occupants to be massaged in ten different ways.<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong> <\/p>\n We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. More info<\/p>\n Volkswagen have also put a lot of focus into the technology offered on the new Tiguan, with a 15-inch infotainment screen taking centre stage on the dashboard.<\/p>\n Whilst the majority of features are accessible in a few taps, occupants will also be able to control it via a rotary dial, which features its own screen, or via voice commands.<\/p>\n The new Tiguan will also get a variety of driver assistance features, including Side Assist, for helping with changing lanes on motorways and dual carriageways, and autonomous emergency braking.<\/p>\n Available as a plug-in-hybrid, consisting of a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 19.7kWh battery, the new Tiguan will be able to produce up to 270 horsepower and cover an all-electric range of 62-miles.<\/p>\n Other powertrains will include a pair of mild-hybrids, pairing the 1.5 petrol with less powerful motors to make either 126 or 147 horsepower, and a 2.0-litre diesel.<\/p>\n Whilst Volkswagen have yet to outline performance figures for any models in the range, the new Tiguan is set to go on sale in the first quarter of 2024.<\/p>\n
