Guenther Steiner has confirmed Haas are one of the six teams opposing proposed FIA 2023 floor regulations.
A report emerged on Friday that more than half of the paddock were set to protest the floor changes which are aimed at ending the porpoising issue for good, but the six teams are unsatisfied the alterations are actually due to safety concerns.
Along with Haas, Ferrari, Red Bull, AlphaTauri, Alfa Romeo and Williams are reportedly set to oppose the regulations with the argument it is too late in the year for such sweeping changes.
Speaking during the final practice session at Paul Ricard, Steiner confirmed his team was one of the six and said the reason behind it was they are a long way down the road in developing next year’s car.
“We are with the six teams which don’t want to change,” Steiner told Sky Sports F1 from his seat on the pit wall. “We are pretty happy with where we are.
“Either we want to keep it or we want to find a compromise so we don’t have to start from fresh in developing the ’23 cars. We started pretty early with the ’23 car and if you change the rules now, we find it’s a little bit late to do that.”

Christian Horner said similar on Friday and while not saying their name directly, the Red Bull boss implied Mercedes were guilty of significant lobbying.
“It’s not so much the directive that’s an issue,” Horner told Sky Sports F1 following FP2 for the French Grand Prix. “I think the problem is what they are looking at as a remedy is for next year because the directive is neither here nor there for us.
“I think there’s an awful lot of lobbying to change regulations significantly for next year so a certain team can run its car lower and benefit from that concept, which, you know, it’s a very late point in the year to be doing this.”
Haas sacrificed their 2021 season to focus fully on their 2022 challenger, with sweeping regulation changes having taken place in Formula 1.
Their efforts have seen them become regular points-scorers again in Formula 1, with the team impressing despite not having implemented a significant upgrade package all season – although updates are due for Haas at next weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
