Lewis Hamilton admits he ignored team orders during the F1 British Grand Prix
Hamilton racked up his 80th career F1 victory in the British Grand Prix Sunday.
F1 British Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton hailed his Sunday as “one of the best days I’ve ever had” and admitted he went against team orders by remaining on a one-stop strategy.
Hamilton racked up his 80th career F1 victory in the British Grand Prix but says the feeling never gets old and is one that you never get used to.
Adding yet more silverware to his ever growing collection, the championship leader now sits 11-wins off the record held by Michael Schumacher with 11-races remaining in 2019.
“Today was one of the best days I think I’ve ever had,” said Hamilton. “I was just having a think downstairs. I remember my first win here in 2008 and the feeling that I had coming out of Brooklands and going down the straight that was at the time, to the start finish line and seeing the crowd.
“Just the excitement and the joy I feel, was exactly the same as then and the reason that I say that is just that I’ve done so many races. You would think that you’d get used to it or the feeling would calm down, but it felt just as amazing as the first win that I’d ever had.”
