The Kia Carens is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Kia has trademarked the name ‘Carens’ in India, leading to speculations that it could be used for the brand’s upcoming MPV.
After making its debut in the Indian market with the Seltos, Kia is now planning to introduce a mid-size MPV that is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
The Kia Carens MPV is likely to be based on the SP2 platform. It is the same architecture that underpins the Seltos and Creta. It will be offered with 3-rows of seats in either 6 or 7-seat layout.
In India, the Carens MPV could be offered with 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options, with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.
