The Carens is essentially a 6/7-seat version of the Kia Seltos. It competes with the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus.
Kia dealerships across India have started accepting bookings for the Carens. The booking amount has been set at Rs. 25,000.
The Kia Carens is available in five trims – Premium Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus, in either 6 or 7-seat configuration. Prices will be announced next month.
The Carens comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an 8-speaker Bose audio system. The car has features like a digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control with an air purifier and retractable rear trays with cupholders, ambient lighting, and sunroof; among others.
The Carens is available with the same powertrain options as the Seltos. These include a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 113 BHP and 144 Nm, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with 138 BHP and 242 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel that puts out 113 BHP and 250 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
