CVT was smooth and manages the power very well. Paddle shifters feel premium in the hands, usable when you want to take manual control.

Had a couple of hours yesterday so went to Pride Honda. Staff were courteous and arranged the Test vehicle within 5 mins. Very systematic. They allowed for a longer test route when I asked for it, cooperative.
Test drove the CVT variant, will compare it to my BRV MT petrol:
- Seating Position: One sits higher than the BRV, commanding view out front. Did not feel dwarfed by a ScorpioN and Innova driving next to me and that was a pleasant surprise. Superb visibility for new and short drivers.
- Off the line: Smooth and quick, didn’t need more power. In my manual BRV I’ll have to shift up sooner because of the short 1st & 2nd gears.
- Features: One word, useful. Everything is there for a reason and everything works. AC was a chiller and twice had to reduce it!
- Safety: Lane assist is very helpful, camera quality decent. Reverse cam has better quality.
- Gearbox: CVT was smooth and manages the power very well. Paddle shifters feel premium in the hands, usable when you want to take manual control. Manual BRV will make you work the gears, not that it’s a bad thing. CVT for obvious reasons is more convenient.
- Body roll: Well contained like the BRV.
- Ride: Very comfortable even over bumps. This car truly isolates you from the bad patches. Stellar job by Honda. Rides better than the BRV.
- Steering: Premium to hold. Weighs up well and no complaints. Personally I felt the steering in my BRV feels a little more analog and connected.
- Quality: Some plastics definitely could have been better, but overall the car feels understated and premium. Buttons feel tactile and good quality. AC controls are nice with brushed silver.
- Sports mode: Engaging, it highlights the rev happy nature of the iVtec. Relaxed driver’s won’t need it. I liked it.
- CVT is the gearbox to have. Most important factor – rubber band effect is masked well and mimics a TC. Paddle shifters will keep you engaged and in control. Before you notice it, the 80kmph chime is heard. The car is quick (1.5 TSI will be quicker obviously) but this doesn’t feel strained or underpowered.
Overall this is a solid, no-nonsense, reliable and safe car. Elevate is like the City among the CSUV segment & is an easy recommendation.
