GMC's 2022 Hummer EV Pushes 1,000 HP With a 350-Mile Range
GMC has finally unveiled its 2022 Hummer EV, and as you’d expect, it’s equipped with incredible power as well as a whole array of tech.
While no specific torque output has been provided by the automaker at this point, it says that the first edition of the Hummer will run on three electric motors which combine to push a staggering 1,000 horsepower to the EV’s four wheels. It also has impressive mileage, utilizing a massive 24-module Ultium battery pack to give it a 350-mile range, with support for 800V fast-charging up to 350 kW, translating to an additional 100 miles on just 10 minutes of charging.
Sheer power and range aside, the new Hummer retains its off-roading abilities thanks to its fully independent suspension with adaptive air shocks that boast a height adjustment range of 6 inches. You’ll get an extra two inches of ground clearance on off-road mode, with a whole six inches more than the default setting when on its “Extract Mode.” Together with 35-inch mud-terrain tires — which you can easily swap out with 37-inch ones — the electric beast will provide a fording depth of roughly two feet, and will be able to climb over vertical obstacles standing 18 inches tall.
Moving to the interior, GMC has decked out the new model with a range of tech and comfort upgrades consistent with the vision of Hummers. On the front console is a 13.4-inch infotainment screen paired with a 12.3-inch instrument display, which will give you access to the automaker’s most updated version of Super Cruise. Removable roof panels offer a more adventurous experience for those out in nature, while the roof panels themselves have been constructed out of a clear material to allow sunlight in during regular cruising.
For those interested, the first edition of GMC’s 2022 Hummer EV will begin production late next year, with prices starting from $112,595 USD.
