French carmaker, Citroen has teased their upcoming 2022 C5 model ahead of its global debut on April 12, 2021.
The 2022 Citroen C5 (not to be confused with the C5 Aircross SUV) is said to be a sedan offering, based on the brand’s Cxperience concept car from 2016. The upcoming Citroen C5 is said to offer the practicality of an estate, the high ground clearance of an SUV while having a sedan-like roofline.
The teaser showcases a glimpse of the model’s sleek LED headlamps and LED taillamps. The rear also seems to have a roof-mounted spoiler, while the boot features the ‘Citroen’ badging, below its double chevron logo.
The car is currently codenamed ‘E43’, with the brand yet to confirm the ‘C5’ moniker. However, reports do suggest that Citroen could skip the C5 name to avoid any confusion with its C5 Aircross SUV offering. The company is expected to announce the name alongside the global unveil, next week.
The new Citroen model is also said to be based on the EMP2 platform, which allows electrification. This means, that the 2022 Citroen C5 could come with petrol-hybrid powertrains as well.
