When 2020 model year Ford F-Series Super Duties arrive at dealers this coming fall, there’s going to be a new options package box to tick. Named Tremor, this off-road package is available on crew-cab trucks with the 6.75-foot box, as long as you choose an F-250 or single-wheel rear-axle F-350, and only then if you’re interested in the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. Oh, and the power source must either be the 6.7-liter diesel V8 or the new for 2020 7.3-liter gasoline V8.

That’s a lot of qualifiers, but ticking said Tremor box gets you a mean looking truck, replete with blacked out bits, like the grill and side view mirrors. But you also get some legit kit. Most important: 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratec tires (size: LT 285/75R18 M+S), mounted on 18-inch matte finish wheels for proper traction when you leave pavement. But also, a two-inch suspension lift, bigger and uniquely tuned dampers, different progressive rate springs, a limited-slip front and electronically locking rear differential, skid plates, and a rock-crawl mode.

Those new parts give Tremor models a ground clearance of 10.8-inches, which is over two inches higher than standard Super Duties. And for the off-roading enthusiasts, it yields 31.65-degree approach and 24.51-degree departure angles and an impressive 33-inches of water fording capability. The crawl mode has gearing with a 53:1 ratio for the gas engine and 44:1 for the diesel, so you can keep it moving slowly when needed. Tremor trucks will also include Ford’s new Trail Control system, which is basically really low-speed cruise control while off-road.

Pricing for the package is not yet available, but we can speculate. Ford noticed the thousands of dollars that 70 percent of Super Duty customers spent on aftermarket equipment for their trucks. And Ford likes money. Considering the hardware added, I’m guessing Tremor will cost somewhere in the $2,500 – $5,000 range.

Considering the fact you get the some added parts but keep your warranty and similar towing and payload capacities (they’ll be slightly lower than non-Tremor trucks), that sounds like a reasonable price to me. But the truth will come when we review it, also later this year.
