The Cute Honda E Electric Car Has a Perfect 50/50 Weight Distribution
Honda might be breaking speed records with bike-engined lawnmowers and making us giggle with one-offs like this lifted Civic Type-R rally car, but it’s also come up with something for people living in congested cities—a compact EV that looks great and promises to be fun to drive.
The simply named Honda E might not make it to the United States, but if it’s any consolation, Europe never got the Fiat 500e. However, those who can put down deposits on a Honda E can look forward to getting an EV with a range of over 125 miles, and Type 2 AC/CCS2 DC rapid charger, which can charge the E’s batteries to 80 percent in a half-hour. That 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is water-cooled and floor-mounted, and it sits within the wheelbase of the car, which gives the E an ideal 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution. Similarly to the electric BMW i3, the Honda E is rear-engined and rear-wheel drive. What more could enthusiasts want?
Maybe digital mirrors, flush door handles and a sporty two-spoke steering wheel? All present here. No wonder the Honda E is a car we’re looking forward to driving.
