Chevrolet is already preparing to launch the next model year of the C8 Corvette. According to Autoblog, orders for the 2020 car have been halted, and allocations for the 2021 model-year Corvette will start in late May. And according to official dealer documents leaked on the C8 Corvette Owners Facebook Group, it’s getting some significant updates.
Facebook user Aaron Bradlee Adams, who, according to their profile on the social network, works at a Chevrolet dealer in Michigan, shared a screenshot outlining the changes coming to the 2021 model-year Corvette. The information was apparently sourced from the Global Connect Order WorkBench, a dealership software used for ordering cars.
The biggest update is the addition of two new color choices: red Mist Tintcoat and silver Flare. According to Corvette Blogger, they’ll be replacing Long Beach red and Blade silver. The document also shows that Magnetic Ride Control has been made a standalone option for 2021—previously, you had to order the Z51 performance package to get it. Wireless CarPlay will apparently be made standard across the Corvette lineup.
Another standout addition is the availability of a “Stingray R” graphics package, though the document doesn’t explain what it entails. Corvette Blogger speculates the design could replicate that of the C8.R race car. Chevy seems to be bringing back the race car-themed car cover, also seen on the C7.
There’s a handful of cosmetic changes listed on the leaked document as well, including new available stripe patterns and colors, new interior designs for the 3LT trim level, and available carbon fiber exterior pieces.
We’ve reached out to General Motors to confirm whether any of these updates are legit, and will update this article if we hear back.
