Watch Mini Electric Pull Boeing Aircraft In New Teaser Video

As preparations for the debut of the first-ever all-electric production Mini continue, the British marque has released a new intriguing teaser video. It shows a prototype of the Mini Electric pulling a Boeing 777F freight aircraft at the Frankfurt airport and marks the start of a number of social media activities the manufacturer is planning to promote the upcoming market launch of the car.
For this video, BMW and Mini partnered with Lufthansa Cargo with the latter providing the Boeing aircraft with an unladen weight of roughly 150 tons. If you take a closer look at the machine, you’ll notice the iNext branding and BMW says this is the very same aircraft that was used to transport the Vision iNext concept to Munich, New York, San Francisco, and Beijing for media events.

Production of the Mini Electric is scheduled to begin in November this year at the brand’s Oxford factory. The official premiere of the production EV should take place at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September, exactly two years after the Mini Electric study was revealed for the first time at the same event.
The machine is based on the three-door version of the Mini and BMW promises it will combine “locally emissions-free driving with the brand’s characteristic go-kart feeling, premium quality, and expressive design.” Without going into details, the company explains the EV will deliver “spontaneous power” and “a high level of torque available directly from standing.” In a previous press release, Mini described the Electric as the “industry’s first electric hot hatch.”
According to preliminary and unofficial information, the production all-electric Mini will offer a range of about 200 miles (320 kilometers) between two charges. Word on the street is power will be provided by the same 181-horsepower (135-kilowatt) electric motor that also powers the BMW i3S. Pricing should start at about $37,000.
