The cheapest car insurance across the UK have been unveiled by experts in a boost for motorists desperate for a deal.
As the cost of living crisis continues to worry families, road users desperate for higher premiums are urged to look no further than these machines.
From British road car brand Vauxhall to the popular models from Nissan and Citroen, these 10 vehicles are among the most cost-effective on the market.
Experts at Howden Insurance have listed these models as the most inexpensive among forecourts.
1. Vauxhall Corsa
The Corsa is one of the most popular vehicles on UK roads with around 1.1 million models on the streets.
Older Vauxhall Corsa models released in the mid-noughties can be picked up for under £1,000 while newer models are around £1.500 to £3,000.
According to MoneySuperMarket, the most popular Corsa models can be insured for around £650 per year.
Experts at Howden Insurance said: “Cheap to run, easy to drive, and jam-packed with incredible features, the Vauxhall Corsa is a classic compact car for first-time drivers.
“Its smooth steering and small size make it ideal for city living, while the LED headlights and smart touchscreen (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) make longer journeys safe and comfortable.”
2. Nissan Micra
Compare the Market says Micra’s usually fit between insurance groups five-11 meaning they are at a low risk of being stolen.
These tend to be cheaper, smaller cars where the cost of repairs is unlikely to be substantial.
According to HelloSafe, newer Micra models can be insured for around £475 per year with costs only rising as high as £515.
Howden Insurance backs the Micra for its sharp design, slick interior and safe and reliable motor.
3. Hyundai i10
The Hyundai i10 is another group one insurance car meaning this is one of the most affordable on the market.
Experts at Finder.com estimate that an average 30-year-old will pay around £582 for a 1.0-litre Hyundai i10.
However, costs could rise to around £688 for the more expensive and powerful 1.2 litre Hyundai i10 Premium SE.
4. Citroen C1
MoneySuperMarket claims the Citroen C1 is one of the “lowest insurance groups” on the market.
They stress the budget prices are mainly down to the reliability and low servicing costs making it an insurer’s dream.
The car is usually based in insurance groups six to 13 with average premiums of around £858.04.
Howden Insurance said the C1 was “easy to drive” and “easy to park” making it ideal for city travel.
