The supermarket giant recently scrapped free parking at their shop in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. Under the new rules, car parking is now restricted to customers only for a maximum of one hour.
This move has prompted criticism from shoppers at the store.
Owen McMahon slammed the changes, saying it made it more difficult for shoppers.
They continued: “Sainsbury’s have introduced without warning a restriction of one hour’s free parking on its customers without allowance of extension and paying a fee.
“Basically it’s a shop with us only policy as our weekly shop takes around 40 minutes.
“Ordinarily followed by town centre shopping and a coffee which now is no longer an option.
“We find ourselves in the ridiculous position of leaving their car park to find another to do our town centre bit – bonkers!”
“Not very good customer service in our opinion,” they told Yorkshire Live.
Shoppers and drivers also responded angrily on social media, with one commenter questioning how this would affect those with disabilities.

They said: “I understand what they’re trying to do, but is this fair on disabled customers?
“Not everyone has a blue badge to park longer and some of us still need extra time to do our shopping.
“I enjoy browsing, I think this would make me feel very rushed.”
In response to the complaint, a Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Our popular Huddersfield store now offers free parking for one hour so that we can make sure spaces are available to our customers when they need them.”
