The ram 1500 trx made its debut for the 2021 model year as the first pickup to really challenge the Ford F-150 Raptor for desert dominance. Motor Trend and Four Wheeler were smitten with the off-road behemoth, awarding it top honors in both staffs’ Truck of the Year competitions. Overshadowing the aggressive off-road suspension and wide fender flares is the TRX’s 702 hp 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine under the hood that absolutely screams when the throttle’s mashed.
The TRX lunged into the truck market with the introduction of the 2021 ram 1500 trx Launch Edition, which started at $92,010. All 702 units of this special edition, delineated by its unique Anvil Gray paint, sold out in about three hours. The very first Launch Edition off the assembly line sold for $410,000 at Barrett-Jackson, and dealer markups approached $50,000 for the supercharged Ram. You could say there was some pent-up demand for a Raptor companion like the TRX.
Ram is introducing a new special edition for the TRX’s second year. Like the Launch Edition’s special exterior color, the 2022 ram 1500 trx Ignition Edition distinguishes itself from the pack thanks to a unique Ignition Orange exterior color and special graphics. The standard 18-inch black wheels have a machined face to add some pizazz to the rolling attire.
The Ignition Edition TRX comes with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group package and a smattering of other features, including a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, spray-in bedliner, adjustable cargo tie-down hooks, a deployable bed-step, a head-up display system, pedestrian emergency braking, and an LED third brake light.
On the inside, the TRX Ignition Edition radiates its special edition identity through Copperhead Orange stitching, embroidered TRX seat logos, an orange center console badge, orange tweeters, orange Ram’s head logos on the all-weather slush mats, and various copper-colored carbon fiber accents. The driver’s screen shows an Ignition Orange TRX, so that’s fun.
The exclusive 2022 ram 1500 trx Ignition Edition, limited to 875 units, starts at $93,280 and goes on sale later this year.
