On Wednesday the Road Tour headed north to visit the headquarters of AMSOIL INC. in Superior, Wisconsin. AMSOIL INC. has been a huge support and sponsor of the Road Tour program for many years. When we arrived we were greeted by a number of local rodders who had turned out for a cars and coffee get-together at the AMSOIL INC. facility. The Road Tour participants were treated to a great lunch and welcome by Scott Davis, AMSOIL INC. VP of Operations. Scott led us on a tour of the massive facility where all of the hundreds of AMSOIL INC. products are blended and packaged for shipment all over the world. It was an informative tour and we all learned even more about the best oil and lubricants company on the planet. Many thanks to everyone at AMSOIL INC. who helped make us feel so welcome.
From the AMSOIL INC. headquarters it was about a two-hour drive south to Cameron, Wisconsin, the home of Classic Auto Rebuilding Service, aka L’Cars. Owner Bob Lorkowski and shop manager Wayne Reeves greeted us. The shop was filled with projects that range from early exotic Rolls-Royces to street rods, motorcycles, and muscle cars. L’Cars is a complete shop with fabrication, paint and body, and upholstery services. The completed vehicles on display when we arrived showed the quality and talent of the facility.
Wednesday morning we got our cars cleaned up for our appearances as guests of honor at the MSRA Back to the 50’s Weekend press party kickoff. The location was the beautiful Mancini’s Char House and owner Pat Mancini again did a tremendous job welcoming all of the people in attendance. The Dixieland Pickup Band provided entertainment, and even Elvis made an appearance. It was another great press party at Mancini’s.
Our week of good luck with the weather ran out by Thursday evening but a little rain didn’t stop the Scavengers Car Club from holding their annual Road Kill Picnic. The food was delicious and the camaraderie was reminiscent of car club picnics of the early days of rodding. Everyone in attendance enjoyed getting a first look at our wild 1955 Ford Road Tour car. Thanks to Scavengers for welcoming all of the Road Tourians to their party.
Next up is the event that many feel is the best rod run and car show in the nation. The MSRA Back to the 50’s starts tomorrow and the ARP/STREET RODDER Road Tour participants will be front and center for all the action.
