Boris Johnson has been celebrated for the news after production was moved back to the UK from France after a Government grant. Some Express readers even said the move could signal the “revival of the British car industry” in good news for Brexiteers.
Express reader BobPage said: “We leave the EU and manufacturing starts returning to the UK.”
Another reader added: “I believe these are cult vehicles in Japan so good news all round. Well done Boris.” (sic)
JakeSeeWhy said: “BMW and VW will be quaking in their boots!
“The revival of the British car industry! Next up Reliant!”
RHarris75 said: “I have been considering getting a Mini Moke as a run around for some time, this is good news.”
Another reader, Old Mike of Leeds said: “Oh Dear, another nail in the Remoaners Coffin.”
MOKE International said operations had been shared between the Midlands and France since the marque was revived 20 years ago.
However, all new models would be built at a state-of-the-art factory operated by manufacturing experts at the Fablink Group.

MOKE said their return to the UK had been made possible by Government funding from the Niche Vehicle Network.
The recent trade deal, which allows tariff-free access to EU markets was also another incentive for MOKE’s return.
MOKE has confirmed the move would lead to the creation of “key commercial jobs” to guide the brand through its next growth phase.
This includes a planned expansion into international markets.
