A number of road users have reported receiving around 4mpg less with the new petrol in a major concern. Lower miles per gallon rates will lead drivers to top-up more regularly and spend more money at petrol stations.
Rich, using Twitter handle @RunsOnRails said his car’s MPG rate had plummeted from 51mpg to just 47 using the new petrol.
He said: “Car’s average MPG on old petrol around 51.5-52.
“Car’s average MPG on new E10 petrol 47.2
“Around seven percent increase in fuel cost.”
LukeTrainPlanes also said he had noticed a difference with his MPG rate since switching to the new compound.
He said: “It’s all about £. I’ve noticed a decrease in mpg by around 1-3mpg which is crap over a course of a year.” (sic)
Gary, using Twitter handle @G66WD said: “Has anyone noticed getting less miles per gallon since the new #E10 fuel began being sold?
“Yes, I have checked that my car is compatible! Many of my friends are complaining of the same reduction in MPG!!”

HalfBarcaHalfBiscuit warned the new charge was simply a green levy on motorists”.
They said: “Found myself having to fill up with that E10 petrol the other day.
“As I expected from reading what had changed, it amounts to another green levy on motorists. At least five percent fewer mpg.
Davy at @Davycatchalot, revealed he had seen “quite a drop” in efficiency since the new changes.
