Experts at E-Type UK says the upgrade was completed with supreme attention to detail down to the final bolt with a range of performance upgrades. The classic car restorers said the new enhancements have brought the popular E-Type from the 1960s right into the 21st century.
The restoration project began by examining each body panel for signs of rust to guarantee chassis strength and rigidity.
The car was sandblasted to remove remnants from the last 50 years with brand new floors, rear chassis, gearbox tunnel and bulkhead fitted.
Once all the new panels were mounted and welded onto the original chassis, the car’s body was then lowered to the floor for the next stage of the restoration.
The new model was fitted with an independent rear suspension which secured the rear wheels and suspension to the chassis.
This provides the driver with two levels of road noise, vibration, harshness and a smoother ride.
The E-Type was then fitted with 4-pot brake callipers, performance brake pads and a separate modern handbrake system.
These upgrades mean the car is now capable of superior road performance and dynamic braking.
Tasked with producing an “unrivalled high performing” Series 1 Coupe by the owner, work then started on the 3.8-litre XK engine.

The engine was completed with a new gas flow head, high lift cams and a lip seal conversion.
Preserving but modernising the gearbox was central to the vehicle’s period feel.
Formerly a four-speed gearbox, a new five-speed was added to ensure less engine strain and a more precise selection of gears.
E-Type UK engineers also fitted a new bespoke straight-six fuel injection system which helped retain the period look.
