Asda customers were left in stitches after someone parked their car in a trolley bay rather than a parking space. The red Volkswagen was sandwiched in between a Mini Cooper and a Citroen.

The hilarious photo was taken by a customer who had parked facing the unusually placed car and posted it on social media on September 27.

Locals near the Asda store in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, were in hysterics after seeing the picture, and began speculating on why the car was parked there, reports The daily Record.

On what was a blustery, rainy day, some suggested the shopper was just keen to keep their motor dry while they picked up their groceries.

Meanwhile, others suggested that what the shopper really needed was to make a second trip—to Specsavers.

The eyewitness posted the picture on Facebook and wrote: “New type of trolly at Asda”—followed by a number of laughing emojis.

One person quickly replied: “Keeps the rain off. If only my big waggon fitted into these cosy wee shelters—I wouldn’t get soaked getting the kids out.”

Another agreed: “Well, it is raining, maybe wanted to keep the car dry?”

A third joked: “Do you still need a pound coin?”

Another suggested: “Maybe a leaky roof?” while another suggested that the driver “should have gone to Specsavers”.

Commenting on The Daily Record’s Facebook page, one person wrote: “Makes sense to me because everyone is too lazy to put their trolleys back there anyway, so the person is making use of it”.

A second person joked: “I have one of those at home. They make great garages”.

A third person added: “More roomy than most spaces, and saves your doors from getting battered by the cars beside you.”

Express Online has contacted Asda for a comment.
