It has now been four months since E10 petrol was launched as a cleaner and greener fuel given its 10 percent ethanol content. It replaced the old standard of unleaded petrol, E5, which was redesignated as super unleaded.
With this change, the Government clarified that E5 would still be widely available at larger petrol forecourts, alongside E10 and diesel.
Although E5 is still available, some drivers have been put off, citing the high price of E5 petrol as a reason for being hesitant to switch from E10.
Many drivers have taken to social media to criticise the fuel changes and to compare experiences with the new petrol.
One Twitter user, AutoPap, said: “Drive up to Shropshire this morning.
“E5 petrol is 7.6 percent more expensive at my local garage and I’m achieving 14.9 percent extra mpg with it in the 992.
“You do the maths.”
The driver also said that he had mistakenly used E10, hence the noticeable difference.
In response to a question from a follower, they said the car didn’t run properly, saying: “The engine shut down half its cylinders”.

Another driver, Simon Browse, also found issues when using E10 petrol.
They said: “My wife’s 2011 Mini Clubman achieves over 25 percent better MPG tank-to-tank with E5 over E10.
“No I’m not fibbing or exaggerating.
“E10 is absolute garbage. Please steer clear of it.
